Mangoes NT

Its Da Cinch

Northern Territory Australia

E-Book Part 1 of 3

Hi to all,
Part 1 of 3

A Farmer from QLD “Paul Le Feir” said to John over 12 Years Ago,
“We work for 10 Months of the year for no pay. Then for 6-7 weeks, this is the time everyone
get paid. To a point. If you DON'T help us the RIGHT way to harvest our mangoes, then when
they get to market- if they are crap “As the Farmer we eat bake beans for the next 10 Months”
If you help us in the right way to harvest our mangoes, “We have the choice to eat Bake Beans
or Steak for the next 10 Months”. We Thank you for your Help. :-)

Never let age stop you. Do you have the Heart and a Dream ? Great me to.

How this is organized?

Mango's Its Da Cinch, Specializing- Just in Labor Hire for the NT Mango Harvest Seasons.
Mango's - Its Da Cinch

Personal Hygiene

It is extremely important that you cover yourself from head to toe in Baby Powder before you start
work every day. People would have personal choices and misconceptions against this advice, But
from our experience in this industry we know that if a picker does not follow this advice around 70
% of times it results in sweat skin rashes.

Accommodation

( Every farm is different when it comes to accommodation Refer to Transportation section below )
90% of the farms will have Accommodation on them.
The Rest have Backpackers specially for Pickers.
Price varies from farm to farm but it is never a crazy price. So you will be happy.
Some farms allow you to use your tents or stay in your Van or Car.

Transportation

We will assist and help you in getting to the farm and will tell you how long you will be working
there.
In event of any changes we will let you know in advance . We will also help to transfer you to the
new farm after work is finished.
To go to shops you have to remember that some farms are roughly about 50 Km's from town. We
will brief you from farm to farm.
Note- For people with no transport we will do a run to shops once a week.

How To get to Darwin

Darwin is most convenient as the city is well connected by air, land and sea. Excellent sealed
highways offer ease of access into Darwin. The Stuart Highway is sealed all the way from Adelaide,
to the Barkley Highway from Queensland and the Victoria Highway from Western Australia.
Daily scheduled flights to Darwin operate from every mainland Australian capital city namely
Sydney , Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Hobart, Cairns and Canberra.
The legendary GHAN train now travels the 3,000 kms plus route from Adelaide to Darwin
traveling through the stunning Australian outback.

Hourly Rate

It is all hourly Rate depends on what farm you are on.
All farms pay different, but in saying that.
We make sure that we rotate the whole work force, from farm to farm so that at the
end of the season every body is fishing around with the same sort of pay.

Can I apply for my 2nd visa? Please go to Immigration Hub.com.au

How long does the Mango Season go for ?

6-8-10 weeks. A lot can happen in a Mango Season. "Mother Nature"

What clothes to wear?

Long sleeve and long pants, Avoid heavy clothes . You need light clothes. Prefer light colors or
White Clothes- you can buy used Cloths from Vinnes or the Sal-vos. At the end of season you can
throw them bin, and not think twice about it.
Never use the same clothes the next day without washing them because of the “Sap”.
In your Training, you will learn more about Mango Sap.

Hat

You can Wide brim hats but this will obstruct you while working under the trees , I have always
found that the base ball Hat / Cap is best

Sun Glasses

If you have them Great, wear them. If you don't have them, we'll recommend you to buy at lease
safety glasses. If you can't see, how are you going to pick my Mango's !!!. lol

Sun Screen or Barrier Cream

This is like the Baby Powder.
The Barrier Cream or 30+ Sunscreen and anything stronger is great.
In the morning just before work, Get a good handful of what ever you are using, and put that stuff
all over your face, behind your ears, at the back of your neck. Everywhere you have skin exposed to
the sun and sap. Do the same at lunch time as well.

Water Bottles

It is great practice that after your day at work the first thing you do
before you sit down is fill up your water bottles and put them
into the freezer. A good 4-5 Liters of water to ice in soft drink bottles.
Rock solid ice for tomorrow.
Its Da Cinch and the farm does supply Big Water Bottles.

Boots

Sand shoes are great, Nice and light, when you are on your feet all day in the paddock or shed.
For tractors Drivers/ Steel Cap Boots are a must.

Training

All of the Training about picking packing is done on the farm by the Farm Manger.
Illnesses or Wounds at work:
See your Supervisor A.S.A.P. If it is too bad, do what you think you have to do. Farm Manager
will brief you for urgent medical procedures
Ring John 0400 190 739
See the Farm Manger.
Be Alert, Act Safely and Responsibly at work and ask questions we are always there for you.

Are we able to work weekends?

Some Farms do, some Farms don't.
